The second episode in the Green Horizon Perspectives series takes place during London Climate Action Week 2021 and will focus on the pivotal role of finance in unlocking the transition to net-zero by mobilizing private capital into the real economy. This exclusive event is hosted in collaboration with the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) – a coalition bringing together Race to Zero finance initiatives across the financial system in partnership with the UNFCCC Climate Action Champions’ Race to Zero campaign and the COP26 Presidency.

The agenda includes keynote speeches from Rishi Sunak, UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, Michael R. Bloomberg, UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Climate Ambition and Solutions Founder, Bloomberg LP & Bloomberg Philanthropies, and Dame Elizabeth Corley DBE, Chair of the Impact Investing Institute, as well as from William Russell, The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of the City of London, and Dr Rhian-Mari Thomas OBE, CEO of the Green Finance Institute.

Mark Carney, UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance, will also provide the first update on GFANZ since it launch in April, and moderate a special panel discussion with Alison Rose, Group CEO, NatWest Group, Joe Garner, CEO, Nationwide Building Society

Jes Staley, Group Chief Executive, Barclays, and Bill Winters, Group Chief Executive, Standard Chartered Plc, looking at how leading financial actors are implementing their net zero targets.

We will also hear from Christiana Figueres, Founding Partner of Global Optimism and Former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 2010 – 2016, in conversation with Mark Dooley, Global Head of Green Investment Group.

The agenda also features exclusive first viewings of videos from Rebalance Earth on how in partnership with the Government of Gabon, they are looking to create the world’s first Nature Sandbox and marketplace for ecosystem services, and also from the City of London Corporation on its 2020 Climate Action Strategy as home to one of the world’s leading financial and professional services industries.
